Las Patronas provides Tavi House with a beautiful new back yard!
One of life’s greatest joys is to watch a child run, play, explore and engage in the great outdoors. Many of today’s adults would probably be able to recount a childhood memory consisting of time spent outside, perhaps in their backyards, running, playing, catching insects, digging holes, creating adventures beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. Thanks to a generous grant from Las Patronas, the Backyard Renovation project became a reality this year for the children of Tavi house, thereby enabling them to experience similar adventures in their own backyard. The children now frolick in a clean and safe environment while enhancing their physical health, increasing their cognitive skills, gaining opportunities for sensory stimulation, as well as opening up their minds and imagination to new adventures. An additional benefit for the children, all of whom have significant developmental and behavioral challenges, is the ability to have a clean and safe alternative environment (backyard vs. inside the home) where they can release and reduce tension and anxiety, thereby increasing their independence in achieving a calmer state of being. We are deeply indebted to the members of Las Patronas for recognizing both SAS and the Backyard Renovation project as a worthy cause contributing directly to a higher quality of life for the children of Tavi house and their future health, happiness, stability and well-being.
